Cheese Straws Iii
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2 1/2-3 tablespoons water, cold
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- 2 sift flour and salt. cut in 3 tablespoons of shortening until the mixture looks like corn meal.
- 3 cut in the rest of the shortening until the particles are the size of small peas.
- 4 add cold water by the tablespoon, mixing with a fork, until the dough forms a ball.
- 5 roll the dough out on lightly floured board. dough should be 1/4-inch thick and 6 inches square.
- 6 sprinkle grated cheese (2 tablespoons) and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika on dough.
- 7 fold the square in half, pinch the edges together and roll out again.
- 8 sprinkle with 2 tablespoons grated cheese and 1/4 teaspoon paprika. fold; repeat with grated cheese and paprika two more times.
- 9 roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. cut into strips 1/2-inch wide and 3 or 4 inches in length.
- 10 bake on ungreased cookie sheet about 10 minutes or until cheese straws are golden brown.
