Cutout Sugar Cookies With Butter Icing

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 3 cups flour
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 cup milk
• 4 tablespoons shortening
• 3 tablespoons milk
• 1 pinch salt
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

• 1 thoroughly cream butter and sugar.
• 2 add egg and beat well.
• 3 add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla and mix thoroughly.
• 4 roll on lightly floured surface and cut with floured cookie cutter.
• 5 bake on greased cookie sheets at 375 for 5 minutes or until firm. cool dough before icing.
• 6 for icing, cream all ingredients. add enough milk to make icing spread easily. add food coloring if desired.
