Cheddar Biscuits (easy)

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • makes approx 20 biscuit
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup 2% low-fat milk, plus extra milk for brushing
  • 1 cup grated 2 year old cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • 2 combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 cut in butter with a pastry blender until texture is rough and crumbly.
  • 4 add milk and combine just until dough comes together ( a few dry crumbs are okay).
  • 5 stir in cheddar and basil.
  • 6 turn dough onto a work surface and shape into a disc, flattening & folding as you combine.
  • 7 divide dough into two discs and press or roll into 3/4 inch thickness.
  • 8 cut into wedges or circles with cookie cutter and place on prepared baking tray.
  • 9 brush with milk and bake for 20 minutes until light golden brown
  • 10 alternatives (different cheeses, different herbs or just use pesto) i love bacon on these as well, just make sure they are well cooked first.
