Debbies Ice Box Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 4 cups plain flour, sifted twice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 1/4 cups pecans, almonds or 1 1/4 cups walnuts, chopped
Recipe
- 1 cream butter and sugars. add eggs, vanilla and almond extract. mix well.
- 2 sift together dry ingredients. add to butter mixture.
- 3 stir in pecans or desired nuts.
- 4 shape dough in log. wrap with plastic wrap. refrigerate for 4-8 hours.
- 5 slice into half inch slices or less.
- 6 place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- 7 bake 375 degrees for 7 minutes.
- 8 note: dough may be frozen for up to 3 months. slice while frozen and bake.
