Congo Bars

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 15
  • 10 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 lb brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup pecans

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 grease 10 x 15 inch pan.
  • 3 in small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. set aside.
  • 4 in large bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
  • 5 add vanilla and one egg at a time, beating well after each egg.
  • 6 stir in flour mixture and blend well.
  • 7 fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 8 spread evenly in pan.
  • 9 bake until top is lightly browned, about 30 minutes.
  • 10 transfer to wire rack to cool.
  • 11 cut into bars.
  • 12 sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
