Cranberry Squares

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 (16 ounce) cans whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup walnuts or 3/4 cup pecans, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, stir together the cranberry sauce, orange-juice concentrate. cinnamon and nutmeg;set aside.
  • 2 in a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add vanilla.
  • 3 add flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 4 mix until well combined, then add oats (mixture will be very thick).
  • 5 preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • 6 pat half the dough into the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  • 7 spoon the cranberry mixture evenly over the dough.
  • 8 crumble the remaining half of the dough over the cranberry mixture, to cover; sprinkle nuts on top.
  • 9 bake for 30 minutes.
