Cinnamon-toffee Bars

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (no substitutions)
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 set oven to 350.
  • 2 grease a 12" x 18" jelly roll pan.
  • 3 in a saucepan, cook the butter and brown sugar, over low heat until it comes to a boil; remove from heat and cool.
  • 4 in a medium bowl, stir together the butter mixture, eggs and vanilla.
  • 5 sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon; stir into the egg mixture until well blended; stir in chopped pecans.
  • 6 spread batter into prepared greased jelly roll pan.
  • 7 bake for 25 minutes.
  • 8 remove from oven, immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips over the whole sheet.
  • 9 let stand for 5 minutes, the spread evenly over entire surface.
  • 10 cut into squares.
