Citrus - Hazelnut Bars

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup sugar (granulated)
- 1 cup flour (all, purpose)
- 1/3 cup hazelnuts (finely chopped or filberts, almonds toasted)
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar (granulated)
- 2 tablespoons flour (all, purpose)
- 1 tablespoon orange (shredded finely peel)
- 2 tablespoons oranges (juice)
- 1 teaspoon lemon (finely shredded peel)
- 1 tablespoon lemon (juice)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
- 2 for crust: in a medium bowl, beat butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
- 3 add 1/4 cup granulated sugar; beat until combined.
- 4 beat in one cup of flour and half of the nuts until crumbly.
- 5 press mixture into bottom of ungreased 8x8x2 - inch baking pan.
- 6 bake about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7 meanwhile, in another medium bowl, combine eggs, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, orange peel, orange juice, lemon peel, lemon juice and baking powder.
- 8 beat on medium speed about 2 minutes or until combined.
- 9 pour mixture over crust.
- 10 sprinkle with remaining nuts.
- 11 bake about 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned and center is set.
- 12 cool in pan on wire rack.
- 13 if desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- 14 cut into bars.
- 15 store bars, covered, in refrigerator.
