Chocolate-caramel Cookie Bars

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 15 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature plus more for parchment paper
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (divided use)
  • 10 1/2 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt, preferably fleur de sel

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 line a 9-inch-square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang. butter the paper.
  • 3 in a mixing bowl, beat 9 t. butter and the brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy. add the flour and 1/4 teaspoons salt, and beat until just combined. press the dough evenly in the pan and bakc until lightly browned, about 30 minutes.

  • 8 lift the parchment paper to remove the whole bar from the pan.
  • 9 sprinkle with the sea salt, then trim edges and cut into 24 bars. the mixture may be sticky; wipe the knife often while cutting.
  • 10 can be stored, refrigerated, for up to three days.
