Almond Thumbprint Cookies

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter (do not substitute margarine)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Recipe

  • 1 for cookies:.
  • 2 cream butter and sugar.
  • 3 beat in the flour, extract and salt.
  • 4 stir in the pecans.
  • 5 shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 6 make thumbprint in each cookie.
  • 7 bake at 300°f for 20-30 minutes.
  • 8 let cool.
  • 9 for icing:.
  • 10 mix all icing ingredients and thin with a little milk if needed , to make a smooth icing . you may add a drop or two of food color to tint the icing . fill cooled cookies with icing.
