Chocolate Ginger Brownies

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 2 cups dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate, chunks
  • 1/4 cup crystallized ginger (cut in 1/2" chunks)

Recipe

  • 1 heat brown sugar and butter in a medium suacepan, over med.
  • 2 -lowheat, until butter melts.
  • 3 mix well, let cool to room temperature.
  • 4 preheat oven to 350 f.
  • 5 butter an 8 x 8 baking pan.
  • 6 when sugar/butter mixture has cooled, beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • 7 in a seperate bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • 8 stir into the butter mixture.
  • 9 stir in the chocolate and ginger.
  • 10 spread evenly into the 8 x 8 buttered pan.
  • 11 bake 30 to 40 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • 12 remove from oven and let cool.
