Cinnamon Twists

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 6 tablespoons crisco
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 ounce yeast (package)
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 1/2 cups flour (or enough to make soft dough)

Recipe

  • 1 boil cream and crisco, let cool. add sugar, soda, salt and eggs. mix well. dissolve yeast in warm water. add to mixture. mix all together with enough flour to make a soft dough. place on floured surface and knead lightly. cover and let rest 5 minute roll dough about 1/4 inch thick. spread with 2 tablespoons melted butter. mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and spread on half the dough. fold other half over and cut in 1 inch wide strips. twist and place on greased cookie sheet. let rise 1 hour, 15 minute bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. frost lightly with powdered sugar frosting while warm.
