Colorado Ranch Biscuits

Ingredients
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2/3 cup half-and-half, plus
- 2 -3 tablespoons half-and-half
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 450*. combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in food processor bowl. add butter and process until mixture resembles cornmeal. transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in 2/3 cup half-and-half, adding more if dough seems dry. mix gently and knead 5 or 6 times. pat out to 1/2 inch thickness on lightly floured board, band cut into round or square biscuits. bake on parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
