Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
  • 1 (10 ounce) package 10 semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (10 ounce) package toffee pieces

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 in large bowl, stir together flour and sugar.
  • 3 cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 4 add egg; mix well.
  • 5 stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 6 reserve 1 1/2 cups mixture.
  • 7 press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of 13 x 9 inch greased baking pan.
  • 8 bake 10 minutes.
  • 9 pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crust.
  • 10 top with 1 1/2 cups toffee bits.
  • 11 sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 cup chips over top.
  • 12 bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 13 sprinkle with remaining toffee bits.
  • 14 cool completely.
  • 15 cut into bars.
