Coconut-almond Bars

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup shredded coconut

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 spray an 8 x 8 square pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • 3 combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 4 melt butter in large saucepan.
  • 5 remove from heat.
  • 6 stir in brown sugar.
  • 7 next, beat in egg and almond extract.
  • 8 mix coconut with dry ingredients and gradually add to butter-sugar mixture.
  • 9 spread in pan.
  • 10 bake 35 minutes or until brown.
  • 11 cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
  • 12 cut into 24 bars.
