Chocolate Bread

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 grease a 9x5x3” loaf pan.
  • 3 combine all dry ingredients (except sugar) and set aside.
  • 4 stir togethe the egg, butter, milk, sugar, and vanilla.
  • 5 add dry ingredients and stir until evenly moistened.
  • 6 fold in pecans (i like to toast the pecans on a cookie sheet in the oven before i start).
  • 7 pour batter into the greased loaf pan.
  • 8 smooth out the top.
  • 9 bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • 10 let bread sit in pan on a cooling rack for 10 minutes.
  • 11 remove from pan and let cool completely.
