Chocolate Bread

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 grease a 9x5x3 loaf pan.
- 3 combine all dry ingredients (except sugar) and set aside.
- 4 stir togethe the egg, butter, milk, sugar, and vanilla.
- 5 add dry ingredients and stir until evenly moistened.
- 6 fold in pecans (i like to toast the pecans on a cookie sheet in the oven before i start).
- 7 pour batter into the greased loaf pan.
- 8 smooth out the top.
- 9 bake for 45-50 minutes.
- 10 let bread sit in pan on a cooling rack for 10 minutes.
- 11 remove from pan and let cool completely.
