Chocolate Turtle Bars

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 (14 ounce) package unwrapped caramels
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium bowl combine flour, sugar and butter until crumbly.
  • 2 press firmly into a greased 9 inch square cake pan.
  • 3 bake at 350° for 13-15 minuts or until light brown.
  • 4 in a medium saucepan melt the caramels together with the water, whisking to smooth.
  • 5 pour this over the prepared, warm base.
  • 6 beat the eggs, sugar, syrup and butter together until well blended.
  • 7 stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 8 pour this evenly over the caramel base.
  • 9 bake for 30 minutes or until set and golden on top.
  • 10 cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
