Christmas Sour Cream Cutouts

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 4 cups flour (this can vary a bit. it should be dry enough to roll out and not be messy, but moist enough not to b)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 cream together the shortening and the sugar until light and fluffy using whisk or a mixer.
  • 3 add in the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. mix until well combined.
  • 4 add in the dry ingredients, adding the flour bit by bit until the dough comes together but is not crumbly.
  • 5 chill for at least one hour, but preferably overnight.
  • 6 bake 8-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet (though you could line with parchment if you wanted to.) bake until light golden brown.
  • 7 when cooled, ice if desired.
