Almond Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter (do not substitute margarine)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
Recipe
- 1 for cookies:.
- 2 cream butter and sugar.
- 3 beat in the flour, extract and salt.
- 4 stir in the pecans.
- 5 shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- 6 make thumbprint in each cookie.
- 7 bake at 300°f for 20-30 minutes.
- 8 let cool.
- 9 for icing:.
- 10 mix all icing ingredients and thin with a little milk if needed , to make a smooth icing . you may add a drop or two of food color to tint the icing . fill cooled cookies with icing.
