Cherry Scones

Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 3/4 cup grated frozen butter
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup chopped dried cherries
Recipe
- 1 combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- 2 cut frozen grated butter into the flour mixture until well combined.
- 3 combine egg, buttermilk and vanilla, and mix into the dry ingredients until dough forms.
- 4 fold in the chopped cherries.
- 5 turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- 6 knead lightly and shape into a 10-inch circle.
- 7 cut into wedges place on a greased cookie sheet.
- 8 bake at 375 degrees for 16 to 19 minutes or until golden brown.
- 9 dust with powdered sugar.
- 10 serve warm.
