Cherry Scones

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup grated frozen butter
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup chopped dried cherries

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  • 2 cut frozen grated butter into the flour mixture until well combined.
  • 3 combine egg, buttermilk and vanilla, and mix into the dry ingredients until dough forms.
  • 4 fold in the chopped cherries.
  • 5 turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  • 6 knead lightly and shape into a 10-inch circle.
  • 7 cut into wedges place on a greased cookie sheet.
  • 8 bake at 375 degrees for 16 to 19 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9 dust with powdered sugar.
  • 10 serve warm.
