Almond Glazed Cherry Chip Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/8 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces eillien's cherry chips
  • 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 6 -7 teaspoons water

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2 combine butter, sugar and almond extract in a large mixer bowl. beat at medium speed, until creamy.
  • 3 reduce speed to low; add all remaining ingredients and beat until well mixed.
  • 4 roll dough into 1 inch balls; place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
  • 5 flatten balls to 1/4 inch thickness with the bottom of a buttered glass dipped in sugar.
  • 6 bake for 7-9 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned.
  • 7 cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. cool completely.
  • 8 stir together glaze ingredients with wire whisk, adding additional water if necessary to make a smooth and creamy glaze. decorate cooled cookies with glaze.
