Chocolate Shortbread X-mas Trees

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • decorator sugar

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350°.
  • 2 combine powdered sugar and butter in mixer bowl.
  • 3 beat until creamy, 1-2 minutes.
  • 4 add flour, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon until well mixed for about 1-2 minutes.
  • 5 roll out dough on lightly floured surface one-half at a time (keeping remaining dough refrigerated), to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • 6 cut with x-mas tree cookie cutters.
  • 7 bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • 8 melt baking chips and shortening in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  • 9 after cookies are cooled, drizzle glaze over cookies.
  • 10 let stand until set.
